Frozen Producer Reveals The Original Ending For The Movie

Frozen is undoubtedly one of the biggest movies to ever come from Disney, being the highest grossing animated movie of all time and making the most money out of 2013. But just like every other movie, Frozen started out very differently, and producer Peter Del Vecho just revealed what the original ending of the movie was supposed to be like.

Fans have known for a while that Elsa was originally supposed to be the villain of the movie, and in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Del Vecho revealed a few more specifics on what they changed in the story.

He revealed that in the beginning, Anna and Elsa weren't actually sisters, but complete strangers. Elsa was a woman who had been left at the altar, so she "froze" her heart, turning into the snow queen and freezing everything. Important note: There's also talk about a prophecy that "a ruler with a frozen heart will bring destruction to the kingdom of Arendelle."

Enter Anna, who recruits Hans to stop Elsa. The final act would have Elsa forming an attack on the kingdom, but Hans, in order to stop her, triggers an avalanche that puts Elsa and everyone else in danger — proving that Hans was in fact, the one with the frozen heart because he didn't care about anyone else but himself. In the end, Elsa learns to love again through Anna… somehow.

Del Vecho then explained that the change was made because the ending "wasn't satisfying." He continues:

"We had no emotional connection to Elsa — we didn't care about her because she had spent the whole movie being the villain. We weren't drawn in. The characters weren't relatable."

Well, it was a change well-made, and Frozen was one of the biggest hits that was responsible for the revival of Disney Animation. Disney movies are so big right now, it can even be argued that they've actually gone ahead and overshadowed Pixar. I don't know about you, but Zootopia was way more substantial of a movie than Finding Dory ever was.
