Players Unknown Battlegrounds, or PUBG for short, is currently one of the most popular multiplayer shooters today, if not in recent memory. The game was originally Microsoft exclusive at first, only purchasable on Steam and Xbox One but that is no longer the case. While the title hasn't hit Sony's PS4 or the Nintendo Switch, mobile gamers will be able to play it now for free.

That's right, a free-to-play version of PUBG is now available for download on iOS and Android devices.

Fans might consider this a big surprise when you consider that it originally started out as a Steam game. Then again, with titles like Fortnight and Ark: Survival Evolved also coming to mobile devices, this was only a matter of time. Hopefully, the game performs well on mobile devices.

In case anyone is unfamiliar, PUBG is similar to a multiplayer version of Hunger Games. Players are dropped into a large area and must survive by finding weapons and taking out enemies. Only the strongest survive in this game, or the luckiest, which has often lead to intense multiplayer action that only a game like this - and its imitators - can provide.

Players Unknown Battlegrounds is available now on PC, iOS, and Android.
