Final Fantasy XV Retro-Style Game Will be Free

Apparently, Final Fantasy XV is not the last you've seen of the latest title. A retro-style side-scroller game is also heading to the PS4 and Xbox One platforms, dubbed A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV.

Gematsu announced that this new title will have retro-style graphics—that is, pixelated—and will feature fast-paced combat. It also serves as a prequel of sorts for Final Fantasy XV, dating back to 30 years before the events that happen, so we'll be seeing more of King Regis and his men.

There will be a Deep Combat System, which will make use of Regis' Warp Strike approach. Players will be called upon to experience real-time combat where they will use both strategy and reflexes. There will be three companions in the game, similar to Final Fantasy XV. For this title, King Regis will have Weskham, Clarus, and Cid as his companions.

Again, like the main title, A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV will also have magic on the battlefield. It will also feature the Astral entities via summons, so you can add a whole different level of fighting.

Previously, A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV was supposed to be a free game exclusive to GameStop. However now, it seems that anyone can get it for free. No date for a North American release has been announced, but it's coming to Europe on the aforementioned platforms on March 1.
