Just when you thought the Chocobo Twitter campaign was the end of the prizes parade for Final Fantasy XV players—think again.
Square Enix has just released a new announcement video titled Carbuncle Surprise. No, it’s not a new demo that features the furry Carbuncle companion. Instead, it feels like a similar Chocobo contest—notice the use of FFXV creatures—but with even better prizes.
Seen below, the developer announced some sweet prizes coming for those who plan to join the summer-long rewards program of sorts. And if you think it’s just a couple of artwork and sneak peeks, you’re in for a Carbuncle Surprise.
“Final Fantasy XV releases worldwide September 30. But your chance to win prizes all summer long starts now.”
Among the really noteworthy prizes include Play Arts Kai figures, custom consoles, and, get this, a car. A real-life car, in fact—though there’s also a sweet DLC featuring an exclusive Cindymobile.
What players need to do is preorder any of the Day One Edition, the Deluxe Edition, and the Ultimate Collector’s Edition bundles for Final Fantasy XV via the Square Enix Online Store. Players are then invited to check back every Friday to see what Carbuncle has in store as prizes. Earlier preorders mean more epic prizes, at least this is what Square Enix announced in the trailer.
Apart from the Play Arts Kai figures, there’s also some Roen Final Fantasy accessories (check out that nice gauntlet), wireless stereo speakers, limited edition custom Xbox One consoles, an entertainment center, some Member Points that can be redeemed at the store, and an entry into the grand prize sweepstakes. This final one will give player a shot at being the owner of a luxury car. Don’t expect the Regalia though, nor one that transforms and flies.
Now the question is, just how many fans will be cancelling their preorders from other retailers to get in on the sweepstakes?
