Square Enix has announced that the new patch will add three more wards to each housing district, so that there will be 180 new plots of land for each of the four housing areas. However, only players who are relocating homes they already own and players who are buying houses for their Free Companies can get access to these new wards. The company also said that they will decide when to open the new wards to individual players.

There's a lot of apartments available for players in the game but the housing system is extremely limited. Each server has a limited amount of houses, and if there's an empty plot, users will have to wait for it to open for purchase at a random time, so players who want a house may have to wait in front of the screen for a long time. The limit is to discourage users from using real money to sell housing plots, but they can still buy houses under a Free Company name, then sell the Free Company off to a player who wants to buy the house.

The Final Fantasy XIV version 5.1 patch will be released at the end of October 2019.
