Final Fantasy VII Remake Moves Development In-House

It appears that the little job ad spotted for Square Enix may be the next step towards fulfilling the company's plan for its title-in-progress, Final Fantasy VII Remake.

A new report has been spotted (via WCCFTech) regarding the movement of production from external partner CyberConnect2 to an internal team within Square Enix's ranks. According to the source, Naoki Hamaguchi will be spearheading the development of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

"So far, development (for FFVIIR) has been carried out mainly with the support of external partners. However, in view of factors such as improving quality when the product goes in mass production in the future, the company has decided to shift the developmental system back to within the company, so as to maintain a stable scheduled and have control over factors such as quality. We will be forming a robust system within the company to properly carry out the development."

This is a surprising progress, considering that just two years ago at the E3 2015 event, the partnership was announced for the title's development.

Having control over production timelines is indeed something that's nice to have for any development team. But I'm wondering if there's something else that contributed to the shift in plans for the title. So far, CyberConnect2 has its own slew of successful games, including the ever-popular Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm series.
