Final Fantasy VII Remake is Also Coming to PlayStation 5

Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming out next year and fans are more than excited to check out this reimagining of the classic PlayStation JRPG. The game is currently scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and nothing else thus far, though fans are curious as to why it's coming to PS4 when the PlayStation 5 is coming out soon.

Well, worry not, as Square Enix has stated that Final Fantasy VII Remake and its numerous follow-ups will be developed for both consoles. This is a fairly interesting development but one that should extend the console's lifespan for quite a while.

Here's what Square Enix president and CEO, Yosuke Matsuda, had to say about the game coming to multiple consoles (via Game Informer):

"I believe that our teams have made it so that the game will support both the next generation and the current generation of consoles. I believe it is being developed so that it is going to be playable on both, so I'm not really concerned about that and I believe that the fans are also going to be able to enjoy it on both, including the next-generation of consoles."

Knowing that the game will be coming to PlayStation 5 is nice but considering how the next-gen PlayStation will be backward-compatible, the news might not be too big for some. Still, those that are already planning to sell their PS4 for a PS5 may want to slow down and wait a bit. After all, the PlayStation 4 has a lot of great games.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming out on March 3, 2020.
