Final Fantasy VII Can Finally Be Played on a Nintendo System Today

Final Fantasy VII, the game famous for not being on a Nintendo console, is now available on the Nintendo Switch. That's right, the classic JRPG from 1997 can finally be played on Nintendo's amazing home console/handheld hybrid, which is something most fans never saw coming. Now that Square Enix and Nintendo are in friendlier terms after a scuffle that led to Final Fantasy games only being available on PlayStation, we can expect more games from the developer to come to Switch.

Just to be clear, this is the same game that came out in 1997 but with a slight graphical upgrade. This means that the title has a charming visual style. And by charming, we mean uglier than most mobile games but hey, the story and gameplay hold up, which is what matters the most.

Even with gripes about the graphics, this is still most people's favorite Final Fantasy game. Some would argue that it's a bit overrated when compared to titles like Final Fantasy VI, IX, or XII but there's no denying that it's a JRPG that defined a generation and the fact that we're getting a complete remake of this game means it's still loved by many.

Why is this game so memorable? Well, we have a great cast starring Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Aerith and many more characters that left an impact on fans. Vincent Valentine, an optional character in the game, got his own spin-off shooter on the PS2. Let's also not forget Sephiroth, a character so iconic that pretty much every Final Fantasy spin-off features him in some capacity. His theme song is also super sick.

So what are you waiting for? Final Fantasy VII is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
