Director Rian Johnson and the cast and crew of Star Wars: Episode VIII offiically wrapped up filming for Star Wars: Episode VIII on Wednesday.

"Thanks to the best cast and crew in the galaxy, and thanks to the fans for all the love and support though the whole process. Cannot wait to put it together and share it with you all!"

Production has been slowing down for several weeks now. Some actors took it to social media to announce that they had wrapped filming, including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Anthony Daniels. They had a wrap up party in London last week. Johnson's tweet hints that newcomer Kelly Marie Tran still had scenes to film this past week.

Star Wars Episode VIII will be released in theaters on December 15, 2017 and stars Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, and Benicio Del Toro.
