Marvel Studio's Groot Star Vin Diesel has become the highest grossing actor of the year.
While Diesel's role as the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Groot certainly added to the actor's earnings, Forbes reports that the actor's parts in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage and The Fate of the Furious helped turn him into the highest earning star of 2017.
The eighth installment of the Fast and the Furious became the second-best commercial performer in the franchise, raking in $1.2 billion at the global box office. Diesel accumulated $1.6 billion in ticketing receipts largely due to Fate of the Furious but xXx: The Return of Xander Cage helped add to his earnings.
Diesel's Fate of the Furious co-star Dwayne "The Rock Johnson" has also become the second highest grossing actor of the year, coming up with $1.5 billion in earnings this year. Of course, there's still Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and the film's earnings will definitely help add on to The Rock's tally.
Top three is Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot. The DC Extended Universe star's movies earned $1.4 billion worldwide. Wonder Woman's $822 million financial success, as well as Justice League's worldwide earnings, helped push Gadot to the top three spot. It's definitely good to see the Wonder Woman star at the top three spot after her sterling performance as the DCEU's Amazon princess.
