Fast and Furious' Star Tyrese Gibson Joins Sony's Morbius

Sony's Morbius movie has been a talking point for fans, since it's expected to be in the same universe as Venom, one of the studio's most successful movies. It also stars Jared Leto, who may or may not be done with the DCEU depending on how reports go, so fans have big expectations for this flick. It looks like he might be joined with someone "fast" and "furious" soon if negotiations go well.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that Tyrese Gibson is in negotiations to join the Morbius movie. If he does join, Gibson will be playing as an FBI officer who is trying to hunt down the title character. Knowing how movies and comics work, Morbius will probably kill some people in his wake, which will lead to the investigation.

Gibson is still pretty busy with the Fast and Furious movies, shooting one later this year. He's starred in other movies as well but he is really associated with the long-running film series so it will be neat seeing him in a superhero movie. Or maybe an anti-hero movie. Super anti-hero?

Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results. Instead of being cured, he became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism, hitting him with the thirst for blood, along with fangs and super strength.

Morbius comes out on July 31, 2020.
