Far From Home Director Confident Venom/Spider-Man Crossover Would Do Well

There's been a lot of clamor for Tom Holland's Spider-Man to appear in Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters ever since the release of Venom last year. Fans find it hard to imagine a Spider-Man villain universe without Spider-Man and many have been hoping to see a crossover between Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock and Holland's Peter Parker on the big screen.

As it turns out, Spider-Man: Far From Home director feels the same way too.

Speaking with Comic Book Movie, Watts was asked whether Sony's SUMC and the MCU could be combined so that Spider-Man could share the same universe as his villains. Though it might take a lot of negotiation between the studios, the filmmaker believes that both franchises can be combined, saying that putting Spider-Man and Venom in the same movie together might actually lead to some pretty amazing scenes.

"I found Venom to be so funny and I thought Tom Hardy was so great, I don't know that they are so different," he responded. "I think you put those two Toms together and you're going to see something pretty special."

Sure, Venom wasn't that popular among critics, but the film did relatively well among fans who enjoyed the banter and the relationship between Eddie Brock and the Symbiote, Venom. We can only imagine what kind of lines and scenes Venom and Spider-Man might share in a crossover movie. There would probably be a lot of funny jokes passed between the two.

Let's just hope that Sony and Marvel work the details out.

Spider-Man: Far From Home premieres July 2, 2019.
