Fantastic Beasts Sequel Has Found Its Dumbledore

It looks like Albus Dumbledore will be joining the fray in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2.

Thanks to Variety, we finally learn the surprise cast who will play Dumbledore in his pre-Headmaster days. And it's none other than Jude Law.

"As fans ourselves, we are thrilled to have Jude Law joining the Fantastic Beasts cast, playing a character so universally adored. Jude has been a member of the Warner Bros. family for years and we're excited to embark on this new adventure with him."

Dumbledore during this time will be around the same age as Gellert Grindelwald, who was portrayed by Johnny Depp in the first movie. This would put Dumbledore around the time when he was still a professor of Transfiguration at Hogwarts.

David Yates is already onboard to direct the sequel, while Eddi Redmayne will be reprising his role as the cinnamon roll Newt Scamander. Author J.K. Rowling is also tasked with the screenplay for the sequel.

Law's casting comes as a surprise. And while we are definitely on board with this, I'm trying very hard to picture how he will portray possibly one of the most important characters in the Harry Potter universe.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 is expected to start filming this August.
