Fantastic Beasts 2: Jude Law Got Acting Advice from J.K. Rowling

When Jude Law was announced as the young version of Dumbledore for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, fans everywhere got excited. Law is an exceptionally good actor and is a good fit for refined, authority figures like Albus Dumbledore, though some fans did have doubts. Turns out the actor also had his fair share of problems with the role but he had a great solution; talk to J.K. Rowling.

Talking with Entertainment Tonight, Law revealed that he ended up talking to Rowling about the daunting role. Rowling is providing the screenplay for these films after all, plus she created the character and pretty much everything Harry Potter-related. It was a smart move and should win over fans who were hesitant with his casting.

Here is more from Law:

"Do you know what I did? I sat in a room for an afternoon with J.K. Rowling, and I listened to her extraordinary words of wisdom. She was kind enough to share with me the whole backstory and her future hopes for this young character of Dumbledore and really that set me on the path. I just did what the writer said."

Unfortunately, Law didn't give more details about the film. Dumbledore is expected to play a major role here, especially with Johnny Depp's Grindelwald as the villain. The eventual showdown between the two should be fun, given how skilled both actors are.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald comes out on November 21, 2018.
