Fans Begin Petition Calling Netflix To Save Agent Carter

Following ABC's cancellation ofAgent Carter last Thursday, it didn't take fans long to start a petition for the highly-regarded Marvel TV series.

As of the time I'm writing this piece, more than 59,000 people have signed the petition calling Netflix to give Agent Carter a new home.

Directed at Disney, Netflix, and ABC, the petition clearly states its point: "Save Agent Carter, bring her to NETFLIX.".

"'Agent Carter' is one of only solely female-based shows on the air of the superhero variety," one fan writes. "Peggy Carter is such an amzing [sic] character, and with lines such as 'I know my own worth,' she's also an exemplary role-model. By cutting 'Agent Carter,' ABC is only adding to the stigma that women cannot act a lead role and be powerful by themselves that is often preached by media standards."

Another fan wrote: "I am signing because 'Agent Carter' is probably one of the only shows that shows women in such a positive light. It gave a character who started out as a love interest a true story and a positive role model for women. It is sad that Disney and Marvel have taken away such a brilliant character and are alienating their female fans."

Hopefully, Netflix picks up this Marvel show, but star Hayley Atwell will be starring in the new ABC legal drama Conviction, so even if Netflix is open to it, it might be tough for Atwell to fit that into her schedule. For now, you can sign the petition at Change.org.
