Fallout 76 Multiplayer Will Be "Very Unique" According to Pete Hines

Fallout 76 is one of this year's most anticipated games and it was only announced a month or so ago. Bethesda did a great job hyping up the game before E3 and showing off footage during the event, so it's easy to see why fans are already pre-ordering it. However, many people are still iffy about the online multiplayer element, even if the game can be played in single-player.

Pete Hines, the Vice President of Bethesda Softworks, does understand how fans feel but assures them that 76 will not be like most MMO games. He even said that the game's always-online nature is "very unique" so that might ease some worried players.

Speaking with Gamereactor, Hines discussed how proud he is of Bethesda's output for single-player games. There will be plenty of new ones coming out soon, including Rage 2, Doom: Eternal, and additional DLC for Prey. Even the newly-announced Starfield was hyped up in E3 as a single-player game,

Understanding players concerns, Hines said that the multiplayer aspect will not feel like a typical MMO. There won't be hundreds of players after all and it's clear that the developers want any type of player to be comfortable with the game.

"…I think as more information comes out and folks understand it's not tons and tons of people, it's post-apocalyptic, it's gonna be dozens and dozens, not hundreds, that you can't just have someone keep chasing you down and killing you over and over again, the game just doesn't allow for that – the PvP is almost more of a challenge system, not just a ‘kill everybody that you see' – that we do want folks to roleplay."

Fallout 76 is set to launch on November 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
