Expect Wolverine To Be “Truly Weapon X” In X-Men: Apocalypse

Following much speculation of Wolverine appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse, the mutant was finally revealed in the movie's trailer last month. In it, we saw but a brief glimpse of the metal claws of Hugh Jackman's character.

There has been little detail revealed about Wolverine's cameo other than director Bryan Singer teasing last month that it will be "more pivotal" than a simple cameo. Now, we're getting confirmation from the filmmaker that Wolverine will be back on the big screen and in the Weapon X setting with his skeleton and claws enveloped in adamantium. According to Singer, Wolverine will be at his most animalistic yet.

In an interview with HeyUGuys, Singer revealed that fans can expect Wolverine's appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse as "truly Weapon X":

What's really nice about his cameo is that he's the Wolverine you've never seen before. He's truly Weapon X. Not just the guy coming out of the tank, but the weapon.

In the trailer, we didn't see Wolverine slashing his way through the soldiers in that military base, but it looks like we can expect that scene to be as PG-13 bloody as it can be.

After X-Men: Apocalypse, Wolverine will be back on the big screen in Wolverine 3, which will be actor Hugh Jackman's reprisal of the role. We already know that the movie will be rated R, with writer and producer Simon Kinberg saying it will be "violent." This means if Logan will be out of control in X-Men: Apocalypse, Jackman's final appearance as the mutant in Wolverine 3 will be his most intense, and we think it's the best way for the Australian actor to end his term.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27.
