Expect Puzzles & Combat in The Last Guardian

Sony's much-delayed but much-hyped title The Last Guardian still remains predominantly a mystery as far as its story goes. It doesn't help that most showcases of the game does not delve too deep into what really happens as far as the narrative is concerned.

While we still can't expect anything more of the plot revealed, a new listing for The Last Guardian via the ESRB official website has given some hints to its combat aspect.

"This is an action-adventure game in which players control a young boy as he explores ruins and solves puzzles with his giant animal companion (Trico). Players can command Trico to zap blocked passages or strike enemies with a lightning attack that shoots from its tail. Enemies in suits of armor generally break into pieces when defeated; though soldiers sometimes emit blood-like flashes or red symbols when injured. In some levels, the player's character can rip the helmets off enemy characters, though no gore is shown. Cutscenes also depict acts of violence and occasional blood: Trico attacked by spears or swords; Trico bleeding from wounds."

Perhaps even the blood-like flashes will be very mild for viewers, considering that no gore will be shown. The most that we can expect would be blood from Trico, the companion animal.

Granted, the rating for the game is only T, so don't expect too mature combats and battles either. This may be just as well, seeing as how this doesn't appear to be the main highlight of the game anyway.

If you have a bit of time, PlayStation Access has livestreamed some The Last Guardian gameplay at EGX, which can be seen below. Note that it's almost five hours long, so just jump to the second 2:30:00 (that's around two and a half hours into the stream) to get right to the gameplay.

The Last Guardian will be released on the PS4 on Dec. 6.
