Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi Is Reportedly Making An Appearance In Star Wars: Episode IX

Lucasfilm might not have confirmed whether or not Ewan McGregor might be reprising his role as Ob-Wan Kenobi in the studio's upcoming spinoff for the Jedi Knight, but rumor has it the Scottish actor might take on the role for the next Star Wars movie.

According to The Sun, sources in Los Angeles have said that McGregor is going to film scenes for the third and final chapter in Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, Star Wars: Episode IX. The last time that fans got to see McGregor playing Obi-Wan was in the 2005 prequel trilogy installment, Star Wars: Episode III – The Revenge of the Sith.

Though any Obi-Wan appearance is welcome, the report says that fans feel divided about the Jedi Knight's cameo appearance in Episode IX because everyone's been hoping for the Train Spotting star to return in Lucasfilm's Obi-Wan spinoff.

However, the tabloid's source says that "Disney has been mulling over a stand-alone film for Obi-Wan. There have been concerns about getting the story right."

Though the report does fall in line with rumors that Lucasfilm is trying to re-evaluate the way it produces and markets its spinoff movies, fans should take this new report with a grain of salt. We can't be sure of anything until Lucasfilm makes a confirmation – or until we get to see McGregor on set of Star Wars: Episode IX.

Let's just wait and see. Lucasfilm's latest release, Solo: A Star Wars Story, is currently screening in cinemas.
