Ewan McGregor Says That Obi-Wan Reprisal Is Just "A Lot Of Talk"

Last year, Lucasfilm announced that it was working on film projects that would fall out of the main Star Wars saga, and one of the films reportedly in development is an Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone.

While the reports say that Oscar-nominated director Stephen Daldry's been in talks with Lucasfilm for the project, there hasn't been any word on who'd play the Jedi Knight. There have been hopes that Star Wars prequel trilogy Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan Mcgregor might reprise his role, however, the Award-winning actor maintains that his return to Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away is nothing but "a lot of talk."

The Fargo star just recently spoke with Yvonne Villarreal on the Golden Globes red carpet today, and according to the LA Times staff writer, McGregor said that though he'd be happy to play Obi-Wan again, his reprisal has been nothing but hearsay.

Of course, nothing's concrete until Lucasfilm makes the announcement themselves, but to hear McGregor say that he'd be glad to play Luke's master again ought to be reassuring. Though fans certainly have a lot of complaints about George Lucas' prequel films, many agree that McGregor did an excellent job playing the younger version of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

There's no confirmation for the Obi-Wan spinoff from Lucasfilm just yet, but we'll be here to update everyone as soon as we get word.
