First off, nothing official has been revealed about Persona 6 just yet. In fact, there's no confirmation that Persona 6 even exists just yet, but if the last few decades of Persona games coming out is any indication, well, we're sure to see Persona 6 come out eventually. And given the amount of time that's passed since Persona 5, it seems likely we won't have to wait too much longer.

While there may not be anything official on Persona 6 yet, there has been a bit of a tease for the next installment in the franchise. For Persona's 25th anniversary, a piece of artwork was released featuring characters from throughout the series. However, there's an empty space next to the protagonist of Persona 5 taken up by a green bucket of paint.

Persona 3's main color was blue, Persona 4's main color was yellow, and Persona 5's main color was red, while green hasn't been attached to a mainline Persona entry yet, suggesting that Persona 6 will be the primary color of the upcoming Persona 6; though this is, of course, still speculation.

Generally, colors in the Persona world relate directly to tone, theme, and setting, so with a focus on green for Persona 6, we might be looking at a game about luck (i.e. four-leaf clovers) or, perhaps, nature. Some speculate that Persona 6 might take us away from the bustling cityscapes of Persona 5 and opt for a more natural countryside setting.

As far as a release date goes, we don't know much. Some rumors suggest that behind-the-scenes Persona 6 has been delayed, meaning that there's no chance it launches this year, but that's currently unconfirmed. The director of Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5 is currently working on a new game, Project Re Fantasy, so it's also unclear how this relates to the release date of Persona 6 if the same director is to return for another installment.

Suffice it to say that while we may see Persona 6 in the next year or two, it seems currently unlikely that it will drop in 2023.

Of course, there are many different opinions on what should be included in the next mainline Persona entry, but there are a couple of different things that many in the community are hoping might come this time.

First off, the last couple of mainline Persona entries have followed high school students. While school life is a major part of the Persona franchise, many out there are hoping to make the jump to a university student. This could open up new gameplay opportunities and a different feeling to the life-sim aspects of the series as opposed to the last couple of games.

Up next, many are also hoping for Persona 6 to amp up its inclusivity. Including the ability to choose to play either a male or female character would be a big step in that direction, while many also hope for LGBTQ representation in Persona 6, especially in the context of who you can date within the game.

Typically, Persona games take place in the context of a city, though Persona 4 took place in a more rural town, so many are also excited by the idea of returning to a more nature-heavy countryside setting. Considering 'green' seems to be the primary color of Persona 6, this may well be a possibility. Of course, Persona takes place in Japan, so many are also excited by the idea of the series traveling abroad, though that is probably less than likely.

While Persona 5 managed to massively expand the mechanical elements of Persona and made for a robust turn-based RPG with lots of different things to do, many felt like its overall narrative and characters were lacking as compared to Persona 4, so many are hoping for Persona 6 focus more on its story and character development than we saw with Persona 5.

Of course, the last mainline Persona game was released for the PS4/Xbox One generation of consoles, so with a next-gen game built for the PS5/Xbox Series X era of consoles, fans also eagerly anticipate a new level of graphical fidelity that sees the world of Persona bigger, richer, and more detailed than before.
