It's been a year since Elliot Page embraced his true identity as a transgender and there's no denying that life has been good to the award-winning actor. Still, despite Page being confident in his own skin, there are people who are seemingly hell-bent on raining on his parade. Just recently, Elliot was a hot trending topic on Twitter after being deadnamed (the act of purposely calling a trans individual by their birth name when they have changed their name as part of their gender transition) on the social media platform.

Journalist Michael Tracey posted a video of Elliot, referring to him as "formerly Ellen" in his caption. Naturally, fans came to X-Men and The Umbrella Academy star's defense and most of them weren't fond of the actor being deadnamed. Tracey later tried to defend his actions by saying that the clip he posted was from 2019, the year prior to Page publicly coming out as trans but to no avail.

Page has yet to address the controversy and to be fair, ever since he came out, he's been living a pretty chill life. And while yeah, it's totally disrespectful to "deadname" a trans individual, I think Elliot acknowledges the fact that not everyone will embrace his real identity.

Elliot is set to return for the third season of Netflix's The Umbrella Academy.
