Elizabeth Olsen Is Interested In A Scarlet Witch Solo Movie But With This Kind Of Story

Over the years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced viewers to a roster of characters that diversified and created interesting storylines for its movies. While some heroes played minor roles in the MCU, others played key roles that have become integral to the overall narrative of the franchise. One such character is Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff a.k.a Scarlet Witch, who had been a vital part of the Avengers Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as Captain America: Civil War.

Naturally, having a key role would beg the question of whether we'll see more of the character in a solo movie. Well, Olsen is interested in starring in a Scarlet Witch solo film, but the movie has to have the right story for her to take center stage.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, the 27-year-old actress said:

It's not something I'm opposed to, but it's also something that has to make a lot of sense. I wouldn't just do it just to do it. It'd have to make sense for how it advances in the world. But I'd be open to talking about it. I'd never say no to just an idea.

Elizabeth Olsen should consider herself lucky, since it appears that any storyline including Wanda does a lot to further advance the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Scarlet Witch is obviously one of the most powerful Avengers around, and we haven't even seen her at her most powerful in Captain America: Civil War. There's a scene in the movie where she stalls the Vision and traps him underneath Tony Stark's building. If she can fight The Vision without needing an Infinity Stone, then she has the potential of being the most powerful, just like Jean Grey's Phoenix.

Marvel could use a Scarlet Witch movie too, considering all MCU films have been male-centric since 2008. Disney-Marvel has been criticized as lacking in diversity due to having no female-centric superheroes playing the lead in a movie. Right now, there's the upcoming Captain Marvel film and a rumored Black Widow movie.

If Marvel does decide to make a Scarlet Witch solo movie, I have no doubt that the studios will provide the actress with an appropriate story. We'll just have to wait until that materializes.
