Elizabeth Banks has joined the cast of the Power Rangers reboot, and she will be playing the classic villain Rita Repulsa!

Rita Repulsa is the most popular Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers villain, and she has been long rumored to be part of the Power Rangers reboot, but now it's been confirmed with Banks' casting —joining the actors playing the Power Rangers: Naomi Scott, Ludy Lin, Becky G, RJ Cyler, and Dacre Montgomery. Not much has been revealed about her role, but she'll probably be determined to take over the world.

The actress also took it to Twitter to announce her involvement:

After 10,000 years, I'm free! It's time to conquer Earth!!⚡️ Time to play #RitaRepulsa#PowerRangersMoviepic.twitter.com/ouzd2BtkUI

The Power Rangers film is being produced by Lionsgate, the same studio behind The Hunger Games films, in which Banks plays Effie Trinket. I thought she played Effie well, and I can see why they chose her to play Repulsa.

The Power Rangers reboot is being directed by Dean Israelite, and is scheduled to hit theaters on March 24, 2017.
