FromSoftware has released a new trailer for its next big game, Elden Ring at The Game Awards on Thursday, and this one features more of the lore that A Song of Ice and Fire (a.k.a. Game of Thrones) author George R.R. Martin helped create with game director Hidetaka Miyazaki.
In the trailer, a character known as the Storyteller shares a brief history lesson about the Elden Ring, the Lands Between, and the rising conflict that players will experience when the action role-playing game releases next year.

Fans of FromSoftWare's Dark Souls games will be familiar with Elden Ring's visual style. The new Elden Ring trailer is loaded with lore-heavy exposition that precedes most Dark Souls games.
Originally announced in June 2019 at E3, the fantasy RPG is a collaboration between FromSoftware and A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin, and it will bring players to the Lands Between as a Tarnished to restore the Elden Ring and become the region.
Miyazaki previously explained how GRRM was involved with the game. Miyazaki described what he envisioned to the famous author: "This mythos proved to be full of interesting characters and drama along with a plethora of mystical and mysterious elements as well," Miyazaki said. "It was a wonderful source of stimulus for me and the development staff. Elden Ring's world was constructed using this mythos and stimulus as a base. Even I myself find it hard to contain my excitement from time to time. We hope that everyone else is looking forward to the world we have created."
Elden Ring is set to release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on February 25, 2022. For more details about this game, check out everything we know about Elden Ring so far here.
