Last month, news broke out that popular English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran was getting his own cameo on HBO's Game of Thrones like Coldplay's Will Champion and Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss had made the decision to have Sheeran appear on the massively popular fantasy epic as a surprise for Maisie Williams, the actress who plays Arya Stark.

Now, speaking in an interview with Comic Book, Sheeran reveals more info on his cameo in Game of Thrones.

"I do know which role I am going to play," Sheeran said, adding: "I don't die in it, I don't die. I'm only in it for like five minutes."

Despite the fact that the series is notoriously known for its penchant for character death, Sheeran never wanted to die on Game of Thrones saying that he'd "prefer to have sex than die in the show. I'm sure a lot of people are into that but I'm not."

After speaking about his character's fate, Sheeran reveals how much he had wanted to have a guest cameo on the series.

"My friend guested in it in 2012 and I remember I was on tour with him and he was like: ‘Right, I've got a guest slot on Game Of Thrones.' I remember saying: ‘You got to get me on it at some point.' It's been five years so it's finally come true."

Sheeran's fans must be pretty glad that he's on the show too – Game of Thrones has a massive following and it would be fun watching what becomes of Sheeran's character. While he won't die, we still wonder whether the series will have him reappear in season 8 of the series, or whether attention will just shift away from Sheeran's character. The latter is more likely.

Game of Thrones returns with season 7 on July 16.
