Ebay List Has Rey As Most Popular Female Movie Character

Daisy Ridley might be new to the Star Wars franchise, but it seems like the British actress' sequel trilogy character, Rey, is now the top-ranked female movie character in eBay UK's new list of Most Popular Female Female Movie Characters.

There's been a socially conscious revolution going on in Hollywood and big studios have been more open to the idea of developing films with women as their lead characters like Star Wars and the DC Extended Universe's Wonder Woman.

Now according to eBay UK's new list of what they say are the site's most searched-for female movie characters (via Jedi Temple Archives), Rey has been come out as the auction site's Most Popular Female Movie Character with more or less than 7,000 searches per hour. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman comes second in the list, and while the site doesn't give the exact number of hourly searches for Diana Prince, it does say that searches for the DCEU character have increased about 13 times since Wonder Woman hit the big screen earlier this year.

Princess Leia comes down at number 3, and while everyone would expect the character played by the Star Wars legend Carrie Fisher to get more searches per hour, it seems like the space princess and Resistance General only has 800 searches per hour.

Fourth and fifth are Disney Princesses Belle from Beauty and the Beast as well as Ariel from The Little Mermaid.

Right now there isn't any list for male movie characters, but it's likely that eBay UK will release a similar list, this time jotting down the most-searched-for male movie characters on their site.

Rey will appear in Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15, 2017.
