Eastenders Actor Danny Dyer Wants Doctor Who Role

Eastenders actor Danny Dyer would love a shot at playing the new Doctor to replace Peter Capaldi in Doctor Who, after the Twelfth Doctor announced that he will be leaving the sci-fi series at the end of 2017.

"I'd be interested in it," Dyer said (via the Daily Star). "I could see myself in the scarf and all that."

"I think I could do it easy. I'd keep my accent, too."

He would be the first ever cockney Doctor then.

If he ends up getting the role, that means he would have to leave his EastEnders role of Mick Carter, and it's convenient that his contract for the show ends in October.

A cheeky fan tried to start a petition and raise the issue with the Parliament

"Peter Capaldi has recently announced that he will no longer continue in the role of the Time Lord," he wrote. "My understanding is that Danny Dyer has a contract in EastEnders until October this year. Mr Dyer should then move into the position of the new Doctor."

Of course, the petition was rejected because it was not considered an issue that concerns the Parliament or UK Government.

"You might like to write to the BBC to make this suggestion," read the response.
