EA Is Thinking Of Discounting Star Wars Battlefront II Around The Last Jedi’s Premiere

Star Wars Battlefront II is hitting shelves In a couple of weeks and it seems like the Star Wars first shooter videogame's marketing campaign will try to ride on the hype of Lucasfilm's highly anticipated sequel trilogy installment, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Speaking at this week's earnings briefing for EA, CFO Blake Jorgensen decided to talk about how tying video game releases with big movie premiers actually helps its games a lot, like how Star Wars Battlefront benefited from its tie-in with Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in 2015.

EA added in a free multiplayer map of Jakku in Star Wars: Battlefront as a tie into the first Star Wars sequel trilogy installment. After all, Jakku is one of the key locations in the movie.

Because of its tie-in with The Force Awakens and its heavy promotional campaign, EA managed to sell more than 15 million copies worldwide, turning Star Wars Battlefront into one of the biggest and most successful Star Wars game ever.

EA is expecting Star Wars Battlefront II to be a whole lot bigger with the game, tying in with The Last Jedi. Speaking in an interview with MP1st, Jorgensen said that the game would get a special discount through The Force Awakens sequel, explaining that it's always the way the game business has been done.

"That's the way the games business always has worked. And so if you see the title on discount, don't ready anything into that other than the fact that, that's the way you sell games in the holidays."

That's not all. EA could also be preparing a special DLC for The Last Jedi, however, EA hasn't opened up about it just yet. Let's just wait for the news to roll out.

Star Wars: Battlefront II hits shelves on November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
