E3 2020 Officially Canceled, Online Show Expected to Replace the Big Event

After a number of reports all but confirmed the news, we can officially state that E3 2020 has been canceled. This isn't a surprising move when you consider how a number of live events were also canceled but it's still sad to see how the Coronavirus has made things less fun for everyone. At the least, no one will be forced to go outside and potentially get the virus.

While the event has been canceled, the ESA (via Kotaku) has stated that they would try to get an online show up for June so that all the publishers who had big games to announce will have a platform to do so. Considering all of the crazy video game rumors that have been rumored for the longest time, we can't wait to see this when it comes out.

After careful consultation with our member companies regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry—our fans, our employees, our exhibitors and our longtime E3 partners—we have made the difficult decision to cancel E3 2020, scheduled for June 9-11 in Los Angeles.

This is the first time E3 has ever been canceled but it seems like E3 2021 will still go. We're all hoping that the Coronavirus blows off or, at the least, stops becoming an epidemic that people will have to worry about. Granted, there seem to be more survivors than victims when it comes to COVID-19 but it's still something we should worry about.

No E3 2020. What are your thoughts?
