Wizards of the Coast has recently published the latest edition of the Digital Dragon+ magazine, which is loaded with news and features about the world of Dungeons & Dragons. It includes a new "Plane Shift" article that lets D&D players explore the world of Ixalan from Magic: the Gathering's multiverse.

Ixalan is one of Magic: The Gathering's "planes" and is the primary setting of the last two Magic sets, Ixalan and Rivals of Ixalan. The design of the Ixalan plan was inspired by Mesoamerican cultures filled with thick jungles and mystical lands but with pirates, merfolks, vampires, and dinosaurs.

The "Plane Shift" article sets the setting of the campaign and provides various details about Ixalan's world, tribes, creatures, and cultures. When players choose an Ixalan character, they can select from a few creature types like vampires, merfolks, sirens, orcs, and goblins. Each tribe has their own advantages and disadvantages. For instance, orcs get to roll an extra damage die when they score a critical hit while vampires get a speed boost when they feast on blood.

Magic: The Gathering's five iconic colors are translated into D&D, letting players choose certain colors to help determine their characters' alignments and personalities. In the "Plane Shift" publication, several monsters of Ixalan are also converted for D&D gameplay. D&D players can encounter various dinosaur creatures as well as legendary elder dinosaurs, a powerful class of dinosaurs with overwhelming powers.

You can download the latest "Plane Shift" article for free here. Past editions featured two other Magic planes, Amonkhet and Kaladesh, two worlds recently explored in Magic sets released in the past two years. The creatures are compatible with other D&D publications so players can use them even if the campaign is not set in the world of Ixalan. Dominaria, the world of the next Magic set, will probably get an epic crossover with D&D as well. Though it will probably be after April, when the set will be launched.
