Duncan Jones Explains Why the Warcraft Sequel Can't Happen

Duncan Jones' Warcraft movie was poorly received, but a lot of fans were still eager to see where the franchise was headed. Bad news is, it looks like a sequel would be pretty tough to get off the ground, and Jones explains why.

During an announcement of his next project on Twitter, a fan asked Jones about the Warcraft sequel to which he replied:

Though the movie critically bombed in the US, it's worth noting that Warcraft did splendidly in China. A sequel could still make a lot of money there, but like Jones said, there's too many moving parts to get it started.

For now, Jones has announced his work on a new comic book movie. It's not for DC or Marvel, but based on the clues that he's left, almost everyone is sure that he's doing an adaptation of 2000 AD's Rogue Trooper. Again, that's everyone's best guess, but some people are still waiting for Jones to say the official title of his next project.

As a non-Warcraft player who saw the film, I have to say the execution could have been done better, but the lore was actually very interesting. By the end I wanted to see where the story would go. Too bad the film wasn't too well received when it came out.

Though a Warcraft sequel won't be in the works for a while, hopefully Jones gives us a good update on Rogue Trooper this coming SDCC 2018.
