After waiting for quite a while, Netflix has finally revealed the release date for Dragon Quest: Your Story. Based on the critically acclaimed Dragon Quest V, Dragon Quest: Your Story is a CG-animated movie that retells its events but also drastically changes a few things up. The movie will be coming to the streaming service next month, right before Valentine's Day actually, which could mean anime fans can "Netflix and Chill" with each other before the big day.
That's right, the Dragon Quest movie will be coming out on February 13 (via Gematsu), so if you're a fan of the franchise, that's when you'll be able to see it. This could be a gateway for many to enjoy the long-running JRPG series and is one of the few ways fans can meet the Dragon Quest V characters since the game is hard to find on DS these days and no one wants to play it on mobile phones.
While beautiful to look at, Dragon Quest: Your Story has been seen as controversial to folks in Japan. That means a lot since Dragon Quest is a huge franchise there, often outselling titles like Final Fantasy and anything on the Xbox One. People don't like how the art style, while pretty to look at, differs greatly from the iconic drawings of Dragon Ball artist Akira Toriyama.
Changes were also made to the story. We won't spoil it for those unaware but don't expect a shot-for-shot recreation of Dragon Quest V.
Dragon Quest: Your Story comes to Netflix on February 13.
