Dragon Quest Gets New Attraction in Universal Studios Japan in 2017

The plans for expanding Universal Studios Japan is very well underway. A new announcement has confirmed that Dragon Quest will be joining the fray of franchises opening up attractions in the theme park.

The official announcement came from Famitsu (as translated by Anime News Network), and it also confirms that this is part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the franchise. Dubbed as the Dragon Quest the Real, this attraction is set to open on March 17, 2017.

Just as what can be done in the game, Dragon Quest the Real will let theme park goers wield their own weapons, explore a labyrinth, form a party with friends, and face off against the monsters from the franchise.

This is an exciting attraction, if only because it allows more movement and interaction with the fans. And given that the franchise has been a hit with its fan base for three good decades, experiencing the battles in this unique setting may give fans a new sense of fulfillment.

Dragon Quest the Real is not the only attraction coming to Universal Studios Japan. Just recently, it was confirmed that well-known franchises like Evangelion, Godzilla, Attack on Titan, and Monster Hunter are each adding their own rides for the Universal Cool Japan 2017 event.

This event is set to run from Jan. 13 to June 25. The latest announced attraction is from the Detective Conan franchise. Here, fans will not only meet some of the popular characters from the franchise, but they will also take on their own detective caps (or bows) and solve the puzzle alongside the chibi detective.
