The trailer, as you can watch above, shows a short footage of a reddish-brown planet being hit with a huge explosion. The impact takes over the entire landscape before the trailer switches scenes, and it looks like the destruction of Planet Vegeta.

Fans have already seen Planet Vegeta destroyed before in non-canon films like The History of Bardock but the upcoming Dragon Ball Super film is expected to put the new canon spin on the tragedy. With Broly being canonized in Akira Toriyama's story, fans are looking forward to seeing how his character and the destructive event connects in the film.

Synopsis:

This is the story of a new Saiyan. Earth is peaceful following the Tournament of Power. Realizing that the universes still hold many more strong people yet to see, Goku spends all his days training to reach even greater heights. Then one day, Goku and Vegeta are faced by a Saiyan called "Broly" who they've never seen before. The Saiyans were supposed to have been almost completely wiped out in the destruction of Planet Vegeta, so what's this one doing on Earth? This encounter between three Saiyans who have followed completely different destinies turns into a stupendous battle, with even Frieza (back from Hell) getting caught up in the mix.

Dragon Ball Super is available for streaming on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami still airs the English dub of Dragon Ball Super on Adult Swim Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. It's also available to stream on FunimationNOW and Amazon.
