Dory Meets New Friends While Searching for Her Family in New Finding Dory Trailer

Disney and Pixar has released the latest trailer for Finding Dory. In it, the journey of the Pacific Regal Blue Tang in search of her family and her home is given a closer look.

More than a decade following the massive splash that Finding Nemo has made, Dory is swimming back in the spotlight and into our hearts with her new solo film. Starring Ellen DeGeneres voice as the fish with short-term memory loss, Dory is determined to find her long-lost family.

The new Finding Dory trailer begins with a young Dory asking where her family is, to which a voice replies: Where did you see them last?

But as is the forgetful Dory, she simply replies with: “…I forgot.”

We then see her in the present with Nemo and Marlin on her pivotal journey to finding her family, but along the way, she is picked up by humans and encounter new animal species that help her escape and find her parents.

Check it out:

Directed by Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo), Finding Dory also sees the return of Albert Brooks as Marlin, Hayden Rolence as the new grown-up Nemo, Idris Elba and Dominic West as a pair of lazy sea lions, Ed O’Neill as a seven-armed octopus, Ty Burrell as a snub-nosed beluga whale, and Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy as Dory’s parents.

Obviously, with her parents’ voices cast, we know that Dory will be successful in her search, but I’m expecting that she will learn something far more valuable about family after she makes her journey.

DeGeneres said it in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

... She’s trying to find her family, and she is very emotional about wanting to belong, and I think that is easy for anybody to relate to.
Whatever you define family as, family is just a part of belonging to something that takes care of you and nurtures you … and when you have lost that, and you want to get that back, it’s pretty easy to get emotional about it.
Pixar’s  Finding Dory reunites everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang, Dory, with her friends Nemo and Marlin on a search for answers about her past. What can she remember? Who are her parents? And where did she learn to speak Whale? Directed by Andrew Stanton (“Finding Nemo,” “WALL•E”) and produced by Lindsey Collins (co-producer “WALL•E”).

Finding Dory hits theaters on June 17.
