Even if Marvel already has a pretty solid superhero group with the Avengers, DC looks to be adding more characters to their growing cinematic universe. One character that's been highly speculated about is Green Lantern, and fans are already wondering who DC might have in mind for the role.
Moonlight actor Trevante Rhodes was asked by MTV News on whether he has any idea about casting for Green Lantern, to which he responds with a coy smile, saying, "I don't know." Does he know something that we don't? Seeing as to how secretive comic book productions can get, it's possible that Rhodes may know something, but he's just not allowed to say anything. Then again, maybe fans we're all just overthinking.
After the flop that was the Ryan Reynolds lead Green Lantern movie, it's possible that Warner Bros. would like to put the focus on another popular Green Lantern, John Stewart — which Rhodes would seem a good fit for. Since the movie is titled Green Lantern Corps, it's very possible that the movie will have an entire ensemble of Green Lanterns. I'd love to see female Green Lantern Arisia onscreen.
The tentative release date for Green Lantern Corps is July 24, 2020.
