The first official Doctor Who photo of Jodie Whittaker in costume as the 13th Time Lord has been released. In the previously released trailer, Whittaker was seen in a long grey coat and dark hood -but said that wouldn't be a part of her official outfit in Doctor Who. Instead, the photo shows that she's wearing teal culottes, striped jumper, and braces. Behind her is the Tardis. Check it out:

Whittaker is the first female actor to play the role, taking over from Peter Capaldi. She will make her debut on screen when the Doctor regenerates in the Christmas special on BBC One.

The Trust Me and The Broadchurch star's casting was announced in July, and Whittaker said that it felt "overwhelming, as a feminist" to play the role

Whittaker told fans not to be "scared" by her gender.

The English actress will be joined by Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, Mandip Gill and Sharon D Clarke.
