Jon Favreau is making a CG-action remake of Disney's The Lion King, and the movie has already assembled an impressive cast. The list of voice actors is still incomplete, but it seems that the movie may have already found someone to play the villain, Scar.

According to The Wrap, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange) is currently in talks to voice Simba's uncle. Of course, these are still just talks, and it's possible that Disney may find somebody else to take on the role. Personally, I would prefer someone with a much deeper voice to play the part. Ben Mendelsohn from Rogue One actually does a good Scar. I also don't see what's so wrong about bringing back Jeremy Irons.

So far, only one cast member from the original is coming back to voice his character in this movie. James Earl Jones will still be lending his voice as Mufasa. As for other characters, Donald Glover will be voicing an adult Simba, John Oliver (Last Week Tonight) will be the voice of Zazu, Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street) will be Timon, and Seth Rogen will voice Pumbaa.

As of now, the movie has yet to cast a villain with Scar, and I'm guessing they will also want to cast some better known actors to play Scar's three hyena sidekicks. There is also a rumor that Beyonce is being considered to play Simba's love interest Nala.

Jon Favreau's The Lion King comes out July 19, 2019.
