It's been three years since the (successful) release of Disney's Big Hero 6, and Disney XD is planning on running a series which will serve as a sequel to the movie. Big Hero 6: The Series is set for a release this September, and though it hasn't premiered yet, the show has already been greenlit for a second season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a big chunk of the original movie cast will be returning for the show. Ryan Potter (Hiro), Scott Adsit (Baymax), Jamie Chung (Gogo), and Genesis Rodriguez (Honey Lemon) are set to return as their characters, with Maya Rudolph (Aunt Cass), David Shaughnessy (Heathcliff the Butler), Alan Tudyk (Alistair Krei), and Stan Lee (Fred's Dad) also set to reprise their roles.

Voice actors who won't be returning will be Damon Wayans Jr., who provided the voice for Wasabi, and T.J. Miller, who voices superhero fan boy Fred. They will both be replaced by Khary Payton and Brooks Wheelan respectively.

What's interesting is that the series will be 2D-animated instead of 3D. Other shows that have been based on 3D-animated movies have usually kept their 3D aesthetic like Kung Fu Panda and Dragons: Riders of Berk. Hopefully the quality is still top-notch.
