It looks like Disney fans are going to get a team of strong, independent role models in a new princess movie featuring a team of kick-ass, Avengers-like fairytale princesses.
Following the success of Frozen, Moana, and Tangled –films with narratives featuring strong female characters – Disney has decided to create an action-adventure movie centered on princesses.
Aptly titled Princesses, the film's script has been written by Nir Paniry and Lawrence Grey. According to Tracking Board, the movie is to be produced under the writer's Grey Matter banner while Joachim Ronning, director of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to helm the film for the studio.
There isn't that much information on which Disney Princess would make the cut (or if Disney plans to use any of the old Disney Princesses at all), however it's very likely that the studio would decide to bank on the popular characters in the Disney Princess franchise.
There's no release date for the film just yet, nor any word on when production or casting starts, but we'll keep you updated as soon as we catch wind.
