It goes without saying that the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains the most dominant franchise in Hollywood and while a lot of people thought everything would go downhill following Avengers: Endgame, the billion-dollar franchise has maintained its momentum and during this year's D23 Expo, we learned that Kevin Feige has already laid out plans for the next two phases and it's already safe to say that the MCU will stick around for more years to come.
Of course, despite the studio's meticulous planning, it still isn't immune to "inevitable" production changes. The Hollywood Reporter's Aaron Couch recently took to Twitter to reveal that several MCU film projects have been given new release schedules, including the multiversal crossover event Avengers: Secret Wars which is now slated for release on May 1, 2026.
The film was originally given a November 7, 2025 release date and while Marvel Studios has yet to release an official statement regarding the intriguing delays, we can already confirm that the Multiverse Saga has been stretched out to 2026. Of course, things are ever-changing in the MCU so it wouldn't come as a surprise if more delays will be announced in the coming months.
Interestingly, a new rumor suggests that Phase 7 will begin just months after Secret Wars and it would be safe to assume that it will be centered on the X-Men.

Personally, I'd like to see Marvel Studios take a long break before kickstarting Phase 7 but I guess we'll just have to wait and see how everything plays out.
Meanwhile, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will close out Phase Four on November 11, 2022.
