Disney is launching a brand new promotional campaign titled "Marvel Heroes Come in All Sizes", campaign, Newsaramareports. Marvel is teaming up with Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media for the new promotion. The campaign is apparently supposed to promote diversity.
"Whether you are big like Hulk, small like Ant-Man or smart and quick-to-action like Black Widow, Marvel truly has a hero for everyone," said Paul Gitter, Senior VP of Licensing for DCPI. "From young kids to teenagers, to a casual fan or a diehard adult collector, 'Marvel Heroes Come in All Sizes' showcases that there is no singular definition for a hero and that our diversity is what makes us so powerful."
I just have to point out here that "smart and quick to act" isn't a size, but okay. It's honestly a weird choice of promotional campaign for Marvel. The title makes it sound like the campaign is supposed to promote body type diversity, which is not something Marvel heroes are known for. Just looking at that graphic for the campaign show that all of them have the exact same body type, except for Hulk being bigger and Groot being a baby tree.
But regardless, there will be a lot of media under the "Marvel Heroes" campaign. It will include Marvel's Monsters Unleashed comic, the DVD for the Doctor Strange movie, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: Squirrel Meets World novel, a Baby Groot picture book and the Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series video game. There will also be tons more toy, book and television content.
Walmart, Target, Toys 'R' Us, Kohl's, and Amazon and other retailers will be participating in the campaign. There will be signings, events and special offers.
While it may be weirdly titled, hopefully people will be able to get some cool stuff with this event. Does anything catch your eye?
