We've got some news on the Destiny update next week, curtesy of developer Bungie's official blog. Iron Banner, the player-vs-player event where gear and level gaps are unrestricted, has traditionally featured Control, an objective-based mode. The update will be a somewhat historical moment , because the Iron Banner will feature Clash instead of Control for the first time ever. Clash is a more traditional first-person shooter 6 vs. 6 deathmatch, and I'm excited to see how this plays out in the Iron Banner, where gear isn't scaled and balanced like it usually is.
Iron Banner fans will also be pleased to know that Bungie is increasing Iron Banner reputation gains from winning by 20%, and adding more rewards for Guardians that invest time into the limited-time Destiny event. I'm glad to hear this, because I usually don't have enough time to grind through the ranks when Iron Banner is unlocked. In fact, the abysmal reputation gain is what usually discourages me from even trying the Iron Banner. That, and the fact that my weapons and armor aren't always up to snuff, compared to the typical Iron Banner crowd.
If you aren't too busy with Fallout 4 or Star Wars: Battlefront next week, be on the lookout for the Iron Banner in Destiny! It's sure to be a good time.
