Before Matt Reeves was hired to direct The Batman, Joe Manganiello was attached to play Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke. Apparently, Marv Wolfman, the creator of Deathstroke, has met Manganiello himself, and he would love for the guy to play one of DC's favorite mercenaries.
Wolfman posted on Facebook about a recent lunch that he had with Manganiello:
Originally a villain for the Teen Titans, Deathstroke has slowly climbed the ranks through the years to find himself clashing with DC's bigger heroes like Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, and even Batman himself. He's even gotten so popular as to find himself categorized in Batman's famed Rogues Gallery.
Deathstroke is probably the only villain who can go toe-to-toe to Batman when it comes to skills, the only difference is that Deathstroke has no qualms about killing his opponents.
Fans have yet to know what Matt Reeves has in store for his Batman movie, but hopefully there's still room for Manganiello's Deathstroke to appear.
Depending on whether Warner Bros is happy with the script, The Batman could possibly come out next year.
