Deadpool Writers Are Ready To Make The Crossover To MCU

Disney might not be too keen on bringing the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yet after X-Men: Dark Phoenix, however, the Mickey Mouse House has promised that it would keep 20th Century Fox's Deadpool franchise as is, and fans are eagerly waiting for the brassy Merc with a Mouth to join the Marvel movie family.

Fans aren't the only ones though. Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are eager to see Deadpool in the MCU. Though they haven't really met yet with Marvel Studios for Deadpool 3, Reese and Wernick say that they've been in contact with Reynolds.

The writers recently spoke with ComicBook.com to help promote Zombieland: Double Tap, and during the interview, Reese and Wernick opened up about Deadpool 3.

"We're in touch with Ryan," Wernick said. "We've got several projects with him. Moving forward, we've got 6 Underground on Netflix coming out in December with Ryan. Then, we're rewriting Clue for him right now, which will hopefully shoot in the spring. We've got a few other things brewing with him, not including Deadpool, which will hopefully could come to the surface real soon."

It's still unclear how and when Deadpool's going to make it into the MCU given that Marvel's already laid out its plans for Phase 4 of the franchise, however, the Deadpool writing duo is ready to get their hands on a few characters that they couldn't really use in the past, saying that they "definitely...want to play in the sandbox" that is available to them now that Disney's merged with Fox.
