Deadpool records just keep on coming.

The Merc with a Mouth has set another new record with his solo film.

Just last week, Deadpool became the highest grossing R-rated movie in the world. Now, according to Box Office Mojo,Deadpool has earned $754.5 million globally just this past weekend, therefore becoming the highest grossing X-Men film of all time. The second highest is X-Men: The Last Standwith $747.9 million in box office sales.

While Deadpool has been known to have broken different sorts of records since its release earlier this year, it's a mystery, and I admit quite funny, how the film is even in the X-Men franchise.

In the first place, there were only two other X-Men characters featured in the film – Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus – and they're not even as popular as other characters previously featured in previous X-Men films. It's also a wonder where exactly in the X-Men universe Deadpool takes place, making it seem unconnected to other X-Men films. Then there's the visual style and tone of the film, which its R-rating has a lot to do with. It begs the question of how Wade Wilson will fit into the X-Men once a crossover takes place.

Nevertheless, I'm very happy for the people behind Deadpool. Everybody knows the process by which this film got the greenlight from the studios had been a grueling one. Despite a low budget for Hollywood comic book film standards, the movie's creative team managed to come up with a movie that breaks standards and exceeds expectations.

Congrats to everyone involved!

I can't wait to see Deadpool 2.

For those who can't get enough of the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool will arrive on DVD and Blu-ray on May 10. There's also a Deadpool honest trailer already in the works.
