Deadpool Creator Is Okay With Having The Merc With A Mouth In The MCU

Disney might be competing with Comcast over Fox, but the studio has certainly been working hard at completing the arrangement between 20th Century Fox and the Mickey Mouse House company.

There are a lot of fans looking forward to the Fox acquisition, not just because it would expand Disney, but also because it meant that Fox's mutants could finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking in an interview with Cinema Blend, Deadpool comic book creator Liefield revealed that he'd love to see the Merc with a Mouth join the MCU, only if Ryan Reynolds still calls the shots in the Deadpool franchise.

"Only if Ryan [Reynolds] calls the shots. ... If Ryan is not the guy who is helming that ship, then who cares? If Ryan is given everything that he deserves, and they say 'You can do your own thing over here under Disney."

Reynolds does seem to have a lot of creative freedom at 20th Century Fox – Deadpool does seem to get away with anything in his movies. However, fans have been worrying that things might change once Disney finally acquires the studio and its assets. Disney could limit Deadpool's brassy attitude. They could turn his films into general rated movies.

Of course, considering Deadpool's success, Disney might not change anything all about Wade Wilson. Taking away the Merc with a Mouth's brassy humor would just dull his character.

Deadpool 2 is currently screening in cinemas.
