Deadpool 2 Director Gives Update on Cable Casting

With Brad Pitt just booted out for a role as Cable, the newest front-runner for the newest addition in Deadpool's universe is Michael Shannon. However, this movement in casting hasn't sealed any deals as of yet.

Deadpool 2 director David Leitch gave a little update (via MTV News) regarding how they are still on the prowl for the right Cable through their own short list. According to Leitch, they are still looking to cast beyond Shannon, but that he still personally feels strongly about this particular hopeful.

"I'm a huge fan of Michael Shannon, and he's always been on a short list. The studio is doing the due diligence to go through the list, and we're going to find the right Cable. If it ends up Michael Shannon, I will be grateful. But there's a lot of great people out there, too."

Just recently, it was hinted that Deadpool 2 will introduce more action into the mix. From the looks of it, there will be a balance of both "havoc and fun," perhaps both on the set and on screen.

"Because it's such a fun and free sandbox, we explore ideas and different avenues as they come into our heads. It's really about exploring things and finding the best movie possible. We're on a really good trajectory with the emotional arc of this character."

Stay true to your nature, Deadpool! The sequel is set for a 2018 release in theaters with Ryan Reynolds as the titular Merc with the Mouth.
