Deadpool & Logan Prove Fans Want More R-Rated Superhero Movies

It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that superheroes with capes and superpowers are solely for kids' enjoyment and viewing. However, Wolverine's last run and Deadpool's first movie served as good examples of a potential trend: R-rated superhero movies.

And the trend is something highly echoed by fans who recently answered a survey from Fandango (via Deadline), which asked if they would like to see more R-rated topics in these movies.

As per the results, 71% of respondents agreed that superhero movies should dabble in the R-rating territory. As far as studios go, 20th Century Fox, which has rolled out the two R-rated superhero films, is off to a pretty great start.

Logan's success almost seems palpable, since over 85% of the respondents express their interest in seeing a more violent X-Men movie. It also helps that 96% of the respondents are excited to see Hugh Jackman's final run as the self-regenerating bad boy hero, while an almost equal number of viewers are just as excited to see Patrick Stewart return as Professor Xavier.

Personally, I think superhero movies are meant to let us see a world beyond the colorful leotards and capes. I believe that after Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and with the dawn of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, we've seen a lot more of these gritty, grounded superhero movies.

Logan is hitting theaters everywhere this week, so make sure you get a glimpse of what could be Jackman's masterpiece for this role.
